Day
SATURDAY MARCH 8TH 2008 - 7 MILE BEACH GERROA NSW

The draw had been done and the interest from paddlers as far
afield as Tasmania, Victoria and Mid northern NSW promised a fun day
filled with varying abilities and surf craft.

On arrival at 7 Mile Beach Gerroa it was clear that the high tide swell
was smaller than forecasted but the outgoing tide bought with it some
nice peaks , clean and reasonably long rides for the competitors.
A warm up session of 40 minutes was granted by the judges to allow for
paddlers to get accustomed to the waves and their surf kayaks , some of
which haven't been in the water for some time.

The Air Horn Blast signaled that the warm up was over and it was time to
brief our participants. Rules of the competition, heats, and some
protocols with regard to safety and what it was that the judges would be
looking for were passed on to some rather keen surfers. As pictured this
was all taken very seriously and we prepared for a day that turned out
to bring out the best in all that participated.
