Kayak Surf Comp Weekend

Mega Surf Kayaks Australia and
Jervis Bay Kayak Co will be hosting a Kayak Surfing Event which is Scheduled for the Weekend of
the 17th/18th October 2009.
It will be a casual event with a Social Competition in play at Bendalong
Beach ( approx 30minutes drive from Huskisson )
on the Saturday (17th October) followed on Sunday (18th October)
by a Relaxed Surf Day. We plan to meet for Dinner, Drinks and Prize
Giving at the Husky Pub in Huskisson on Saturday night to chat about the
days activities and of course talk Surf Kayaking!!
A Beach Briefing will be given at 8:00am on Saturday Morning at
Bendalong Beach (Meeting at the Southern Access point at Inyadda Beach)
to manage safety, organize people into heats and outline the judging and
surf contest rules. The full range of Mega Surf Kayaks available in
Australia will be on show for you to test paddle and compare the
differences between models. The Activities on each day will conclude at
approx 2:30pm
Ross Boardman (Director of Jervis Bay Kayaks and Owner of Mega Surf
Kayaks Australia) and myself will be on hand to chat all things surf
kayaking and provide information on technique. There will be some Second
Hand Surf Kayak models available for purchase as well.

surf and Demo some kayaks.

Sat 17th October 2009 - Southern Access point to
Bendalong Beach at Inyadda Beach
(Turn off the Princess Hyw at the Bendalong Turn Off (30min south of
Nowra.
Just before the village of Bendalong turn right onto Inyadda Dr. then
left onto Curvers Dr. then left again at
Sunset strip and follow to the car park at the end of the road.)
Sun 18th October 2009 - Cave Beach (Second right
after entering the Booderee National Park at Jervis Bay)
ESSENTIAL: Paddlers who wish to compete must have Helmet, Surf
Kayak with Stern Float Bags, Spray Deck, Bow and Stern End toggle Grab
Loops, PFD, Paddle. Competitors and Paddlers wishing to test paddle must
sign waiver for insurance purposes to participate. Paddlers must have
average fitness, be able to swim in a surf environment, have
intermediate paddling skills (forward, steering and bracing stroke
technique), be familiar and comfortable
with wet exits in a surf environment or preferably be able to Eskimo
Roll.
